The 11th Student Career Compass event is designed to provide students with the insights and skills they need to prepare for the careers of the future. The event will take place on the evening of 18 March 2026 and will bring together leading organisations to help students understand the evolving employment landscape.

This year, the programme will be supported by globally recognised organisations, including Aveva, BBC, Deloitte, NatWest Group (including NatWest Markets, the Investment Banking arm), RSM UK, and international law firm Trowers & Hamlins.

Throughout the event, students will gain valuable insight into:

  • A day in the life of key roles across various industries
  • Typical career trajectories and potential pathways
  • Experiences of recent graduates and apprentices
  • Direct entry routes and early careers opportunities
  • What employers look for in strong candidates and how to create compelling applications

CV & Interview Skills:
Each organisation will outline what they look for in a CV, as well as examples of interview questions commonly used in their recruitment processes.

Networking Opportunities:
Students attending in person will have the opportunity to meet industry professionals at employer exhibition stalls, enabling one-to-one conversations and relationship-building. There will also be a stall on entrepreneurship and starting your own business.

CV Clinic:
A dedicated CV Clinic will also be available for in-person attendees, offering expert feedback and practical advice to strengthen their CVs.

Two Ways to Participate

In PersonNatWest Conference Centre, 250 Bishopsgate, London EC2M 4AA
Students are encouraged to arrive early for the CV Clinic, which will run from 4:00pm-5:00pm.
The main programme will begin at 5:00pm, with employer stalls open later into the evening for networking and informal discussions.

Online Attendance
For students unable to travel to London, an online option is available. Registration will be followed by a confirmation email containing the Zoom webinar link.

I strongly encourage your careers team to promote this opportunity to students. Attendance will not only enhance their employability but also broaden their exposure to a range of industries and employers. Feedback from previous events has been overwhelmingly positive, and as in-person capacity is limited to 200 students, early registration is recommended. For universities that use the Handshake platform, I have also promoted this opportunity there – please do approve it - although engagement through that channel is typically lower than via direct promotion.
